Welcome to the Nano Gaming News Weekly Rewind for May 2, 2020 where we cover stories and events we missed over the past week.
This past week here at NGN we missed the Thursday early access launch of the lumberjack life sim Lumberjack’s Dynasty. Also on the same day, Tripwire Interactive shared their final entry in the Maneater Developer Diary Series for the shark bite filled game. On Friday, indie developer Blackwood Specter announced the release date of their survival horror title Skin Witch.
For those that missed some of our other stories, here is a quick recap of a few of stories NGN covered this past week. The End of the Sun team is getting ready for their Kickstarter next week. Gray Zone jumped into early access, while Pax Nova and Hypercharge: Unboxed both broken out of early access. Novaquark’s Dual Universe gave gamers a cinematic trailer and held their first Q&A on their new Twitch channel.
Lumberjack’s Dynasty Early Access Release
Toplitz Productions has released their forest life simulation game, Lumberjack’s Dynasty on Steam. This title is another entry into the successful dynasty series.
The game features an outdoor lifestyle that takes place on an old family farmstead that is in need of restoration. Ultimately the goal is to build a timer business empire that will last for generations. Unique and challenging story quests take players on the journey of restoration and business empire building in the serene forest and their heavy logging equipment.
Lumberjack’s Dynasty is available now on Steam for Windows PC at the regular price of $19.99 USD. A special launch sale runs until May 7, 2020 discounting the game down to $17.99 USD. For more information visit the Lumberjack’s Dynasty site here.
Maneater Final Developer Diary Before Launch
Tripwire Interactive has released the final entry into the Maneater Developer Diary series as they lead up to The Final Countdown to the May 22 release. In the video the basics of the game is explained.
The game is presented as a reality show with a narrator. Players start off as a tiny baby shark and as they grow they get to take some really big bites out of things. As one plays a narrator voice overs what is happening.
Developers in the diary video talk about the challenges they faced getting the sharks to be realsitic. They also discussed the actions, movement and emotions the actors had when they used motion capture realistic effects.
Maneater was previously announced as an Epic Games Store exclusive for PC. Players can pre-order Maneater on Humble Bundle platform now for an Epic Games key at launch. The game also features Nvidia Ansel support. For more information on Maneater visit the game’s site at maneatergame.com.
Skin Witch May Release Date Set
Independent developer Blackwood Specter has set a release date for their survival horror game, Skin Witch. The game features multiple weapons, enemies, unique puzzles, horrific rituals, and destructible tunnels.
Sent to investigate an underground mine, players find themselves trapped in the dark. Unfortunately, there are things that go bump in the dark and are lurking around every corner. The witch beats are horrific creatures that were once human, but now are wretched abominations of their former selves. Burn them, shoot them, do whatever it takes to make sure they stay dead in order to escape and stay alive.
Key aspects of the game includes a non-linear gameplay story in a true survival horror scenario. Players have limited resources and are pitted against a disturbing environment filled with unique puzzles.
Skin Witch is planned for a May 22, 2020 release on Steam for Windows PC. Mac and Linux ports will follow shortly after the game’s release. For more information visit the Blackwood Specter website here.
