Midnight Ghost Hunt Update 11 and Sale

Coffee Stain Publishing and Vaulted Sky Games are celebrating the holiday season with the release of Update 11 for their Early Access hide-and-seek title, Midnight Ghost Hunt. To celebrate the Update 11 release, the indie game is also on sale during the Steam Winter Sale.

Update 11 for Midnight Ghost Hunt adds a second Hunter gadget slot, several main menu UI changes, and seasonal decorations to the prop hunt game.

Prior to the update, Hunters only had a single gadget slot. This forced players to pick either a tracking gadget or something else. The developer experimented internally with adding a second gadget slot to Hunters which allowed lesser-used gadgets to have their moment. Since the results were promising, this change was rolled out in this update.

Hunters now have the choice of a weapon, a regular gadget, a utility gadget, and a perk. Gadgets have been split into two categories that the make the most sense to prevent a solo Hunter from being too strong. Regular gadgets include: Radar, Vacuum, Camcorder, Spectrophone, Pathfinder, and Trap. Utility gadgets include: Defibrillator, Medic Kit, Grenade, Grappling Hook, and C4.

Ultimately the goal is to provide Hunters with more opportunity to use the niche gadgets while still retaining the ability to track a Ghost. To balance out this change, Hunter movement speed has been decreased by about 10%. The developer notes that this change is experimental and is looking forward to player feedback.

The main menu has been overhauled. When launching into Update 11 for the first time players will see a new menu that allows for easier navigation and an up to date style. Plus there is a new feature that separates emote and victory pose selections for Hunters and Ghosts. Players can now toggle between Ghost and Hunter skins for their party in the main menu.

Hear that jingle? The holidays are here and to celebrate all of the maps are covered with decorations including the van. As seen in Update 5, the Christmas Update from last year, Santa and his elves have returned.
