Welcome to the Nano Gaming News Weekly Rewind for February 8, 2020.
This past week featured a non-stop barrage of gaming news. Omnibion War launched a space shoot’em up volley of enemies while Phageborn is challenging the deck-building skills players with their early access release and tournament announcement. Dreadlands is doing a weekend beta while Darksburg, Gray Zone, and My Beautiful Paper Smile are all planing their early access launches.
With the Weekly Rewind, this is our opportunity at Nano Gaming News to review and cover stories we missed. This week was all about the games on Kickstarter that we missed. The cyberpunk RPG, Cyber Knights: Flashpoint, and the isometric single-player RPG set in the Pathfinder universe, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous both are now seeking project backing. Also there is an update on It Is Nice When It Snows and its current status.
Cyber Knights: Flashpoint Cyberpunk RPG
Cyber Knights: Flashpoint is the third project on Kickstarter from Trese Brothers. This game is is a turn-based squad tactics RPG set in a dystopian cyberpunk future.
Tasked with command of a company of shadow mercenaries in the the year 2231, players are dragged into a world of consequential story choices and character development. The game combines new and classic mechanics such as tactical elements like stealth, hacking, and combat with strategic features like base building, contact management, and squad customization. All of this takes place in an immersive dark cyberpunk world to jack in and explore.
When the Kickstarter campaign launched on February 3, 2020, Cyber Knights: Flashpoint was fully funded after just 12 hours at the $50,000 USD goal. Now only just a few days into the project and funding is diving into the stretch goals blowing past the $60K, $70K, $80K, and even the $90K stretch goals that adds more backer rewards, a new streets outfit, an illustrated lore PDF, and a new scout drone.
At the time of this article the project had exceeded $94,000 USD in pledged funding with 2075 backers and 25 days left to go. If the $100,000 goal is met, Trese Brothers will add 20 hours of extra storylines called the Valkyrie Zero narrative. The story is about the Snake Island Incident in 2218 that resulted in the destruction and dismantling of Knight Horizon megacorp. Plans for additional stretch goals are currently kept hidden as the developers don’t want to get ahead of themselves.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous
Owlcat Games have launched their Kickstarter campaign for its classic isometric CRPG, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. The new game is set in the famous tabletop RPG universe of the same name, Pathfinder.
The game is an epic adventure where players will rise to power as one of six Mythic characters types: Angel, Demon, Lich, Trickster, Aeon, and Azata. Every choice during the adventure allows players to align themselves with a specific Mythic path. From impacting the narrative to being granted distinct abilities and appearance, becoming one of these unique beings greatly impacts gameplay.
Wrath of the Righteous is being developed under the supervision of Paizo, the owners of the Pathfinder IP. The campaign had a goal of $300,000 USD when it kicked off at 8 AM PDT on February 4, 2020. At four days into the campaign at 7:45 PM PDT on February 8, 2020 the game has raised $781,806 USD with 13,028 backers. And there are still 31 days to go on the campaign.

With each update has come new stretch goals with the latest at $845,000 USD where the backers will get to decide which new race out of three is added. Will it be Catfolk, Ratfolk, or Kitsune? After the conclusion of the campaign backers will get to vote.

It Is Nice When It Snows Update
Concano Games started the Kickstarter campaign for It Is Nice When It Snows back at the start of the new year. However, the 2D puzzle platformer about a snowball from a destroyed snowman never seemed to gain much momentum.
On January 29, 2020, according to a post on the It Is Nice When It Snows campaign page the project has been cancelled. The developer stated that it was a difficult thing to write about, but believes it will be best for the game going forward.
More specifically the team would be better suited at taking what they have learned so far and applying it towards a new campaign using data and metrics they gained from the now cancelled campaign. The post, Update #4, even breaks down some of the data. Simply put, not enough people were able to see the project.
The team is thankful for the support shown from would be backers and supporters. As the team begins work on a new campaign they are looking for feedback in relation to what may have failed. In addition there is more time for interested players to play the demo and provide any feedback to help the team out. Ways to contact the Concano Games team and access to the demo can be found at the bottom of the Update #4 post on the It Is Nice When It Snows Kickstarter campaign page.
