Astroneer Glitchwalkers DLC Expands Universe With a New Planet

Developer and newest member of the Devolver Digital family, System Era Softworks, has released the first-ever DLC for Astroneer, Glitchwalkers. This DLC is now available for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

Since the Astroneer 1.0 release, over 11 million players have participated in five years of space-filled adventures. Now the developer is shaking up the Astroneer universe by throwing another planet into the mix.

Building upon the core game’s survival sandbox gameplay experience, the Glitchwalkers DLC goes to extremes with Aeoluz, the newest and largest yet planet. Featuring new biomes, technology, and gameplay features, this DLC adds the game’s first true villain.

Based around Lyn, a disgruntled member of the ESS Elysium crew, the story unfolds as she begins to tinker with the Astroneer Training Program’s (ATP) code. Working with Frank, Elysium’s Head of Maintenance, players will try to stop Lyn and her nefarious plans. To accomplish this feat, players will break down the firewalls and restore the ATP to normal functioning parameters before Lyn completely wrecks the ATP from the inside.

Located in a glitched solar system, Aeoluz is a massive world hosting a variety of new surface and cave biomes for players to explore. A new tech tree, along with modules, offer players new ways to progress and unlock technology both familiar and new. Glitchwalkers expands the Astroneer universe while including all the crafting, building, and exploration traits that players have enjoyed and experienced in the core game.

Storms are returning to the expansion and base game. Glitched Storms have appeared in the system and players must protect themselves from being hacked. These digital tempests can create all sorts of chaos for the player while on their critical mission.

A free companion update is available for the base game, introducing new gameplay, quality of life improvements and bug fixes.
