Developer Ronimo Games and publisher Devolver Digital have declared that Blightbound will exit early access with a version 1.0 release date late this July. The stylishly dark multiplayer dungeon crawler is ready to unleash all sorts of eldritch horrors on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Featuring handcrafted dungeons, players engage in an online cross-play and local multiplayer dungeon crawler that sends three heroes to fight horrific abominations. While the mountain refuge is fairly safe, elsewhere the world is infested with a mysterious and corrupting fog called the Blight.
Both mystical and monstrous enemies litter the lands and dungeons that contain valuable loot. By recovering fallen heroes, players can expand their roster. Each player fulfills a specific role on team whether it be a warrior, assassin, or mage as the group works to overcome epic bosses and clever puzzles.
A total of 20 unique heroes each with their unique skills, passive abilities, and fully narrated story are ready to be collected. There are hundreds of unique items to loot and craft that improves each hero and altering their attacks and abilities. The refuge can be built out atop the mountain by recruiting new artisans that can craft more items, fulfill bounties, and train the heroes. Three distant lands, Gravemark, Underhold, and Blood Ridge, give players several different dungeons to conquer in order to beat back the blight.
During the early access phase for Blightbound, the developer release a steady stream of updates such as the Helping Hands update that introduced bots or the Arcane Glamour update that added the Underhold area. The next update is the 1.0 update which comes on the Blightbound 1.0 release date on July 27, 2021. Additional future updates beyond 1.0 with minimal details as well as all previous major updates can be found on the game’s official roadmap here.
Blightbound is currently available as an early access game on Humble Bundle and Steam for $19.99 USD. A discounted Blightbound 3-Pack is available on Steam for friends looking to play together.
