Wired Productions and developer Angry Demon Studio are encouraging players to donate blood with their #GorisGotBlood campaign in response to the censorship of their upcoming ultra-violent hack-and-skate third-person platformer, Gori: Cuddly Carnage.
Versions of Gori: Cuddly Carnage in Japan, China, and Korea will see the blood replaced with a purple toy juice. According to the Gori: Cuddly Carnage Got Blood? trailer and in a recent post on X by Wired Productions, the purple toy juice is promised to totally not be the blood recolored. Some of the dead humans have also been removed.
While the purple juice is currently limited to the Asia region, if there is demand the option will be added to all regions and formats. Both the developer and publisher does wonder why players would not “want to see the blood spill out of an evil unicorn” and is something that they will never understand.
Since there is so much blood being saved, both Wired Productions and Angry Demon Studio decided to donate their blood in the United Kingdom and Sweden. The hope is to make a real-world impact and are now calling for players to do the same.
Players who decide to give blood can opt to share a selfie of themselves in the act on X or Instagram along with the hashtag #GorisGotBlood. Those who do so will be featured during the game’s credits as ‘lifesavers’. Blood donors in the United Kingdom can find more information at blood.co.uk and those in Sweden can donate via geblod.nu/bli-blodgivare. In the United States information about donating blood can be found at americasblood.org.
About Gori: Cuddly Carnage
Gori is a cat who rides and performs gnarly acrobatics with his best friend, the foul-mouthed hoverboard named F.R.A.N.K., and the perpetually sad AI, CH1P. Set in a futuristic neon world of intense high-speed destruction, Gori, his skateboard, and AI are all the only force that stands between society’s remnants and a horde of mutated toys called the Adorable Army.
Professor Y accidently unleashed these former toys and now under the leadership of Pinky, the diseased dictator at the head of the Ultra Pets, these mutated toys roam the Earth as tyrants. Much of Cori’s backstory can be explored in the previously released Gori: Cuddly Carnage Origins Story Trailer.
Combat is blood-soakingly visceral. As Gori battles against the blood-thirsty threat, players can utilize devastating combos, glory kills, and powerful charged abilities, to rip these zombie-like toys to shreds and enjoy high-energy thrills. In the end, maybe Gori can save some of his 9 lives for a comfy retirement.
