Hooded Horse and developer 42 Bits Entertainment have released a development update for their god god, Fata Deum, that adds a new god AI. The June 2023 update adds four different AI characters and a range of new UI features.
Over the past few months, the main focus by the developer has been on improving Fata Deum‘s UI, finishing the AI opponents, and working on the campaign.
Fata Deum AI Update
The new AI system is here. After being in development for a long time, the new AI system offers four different AI characters: Fertility, Pleasure, Deceit, and Violence. These characters act very differently while still being able to react to a player’s behavior.
Violence will rain down destruction and amass armies. Deceit deals in curses and gets opponents to attack one another. Fertility enjoys growth and progress. Pleasure is all about having fun.
Each AI character will also comment on a player’s action in their own style. Be warned, they can be rude.
Further work is still needed on the AI characters to full match the developer’s vision.
New UI Features and More
Three new UI elements have been added at the request of the community. The Settlement Overview provides players with all the important details of the current settlement at the top of the screen. With a single click, one can navigate to the next or previous settlement.
Specific attributes can be searched for in the current surroundings using the View Menu. From mortals with low health to finding the strongest warriors, the View Menu enables players with the ability to select the corresponding attribute and all the important details are rendered around the surrounding mortals.
A Shortcut Menu provides players with direct access to all wonders and available settlements. With the click of a button, one can quickly move from one important part of the current match to another. It is possible to configure the Shortcut Menu allowing for many different configurations.
In addition to the AI and UI updates, the June 2023 update adds a new map, 25 achievements, and several quality of life improvements.
Fata Deum Availability
Fata Deum is planned for a 2023 Early Access release for PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store. Interested players can add the game to their wishlists now.

Founded in 2018 the developer has a specific purpose, to bring the god game genre back. The company first started out as a single developer Christoph Schulze with support from the local government to build the first prototype. Schulze, with that prototype, was able to showcase his vision and gather a team of experienced developers to fulfill this vision. Fata Deum will be the studio’s debut title.
