Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic Update #9 Crime and Justice

Independent game developer 3DIVISION is keeping the republic safe in Update #9 for the soviet-themed cold war city builder and simulator, Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic. Crime and Justice is the theme of the update, adding both new justice buildings and criminal citizen behavior.

Content Update #9, version 0.8.6.10, is a major update for the early access city-building tycoon title. Three new buildings help aid the criminal justice system: Police Station, Regional Court, and Prison. Every citizen includes a randomly generated hidden criminality preference. If crimes are not solved, their will be a growth in crime rates across the imaginary republic.

A whole new layer of complexity is added to the game’s experience with the addition of criminal behavior. The overall happiness and health of the republic’s citizens is impacted by crime and justice and will further be affected by the overall government loyalty and unemployment. In simple terms, players are have even more reasons to keep the unemployment rate low and citizen loyalty high.

Crime itself is categorized into three groups: Mild, Medium, and Serious. If a crime is committed, all citizens in the area are affected. The amount of affect is determined by the seriousness of the crime. Happiness will slowly decrease and health may also decrease if the crime causes harm to the affected citizens.

Quick police response to crime scenes give them a better chance to fully investigate the crime. Once an investigation is complete the perpetrators are arrested. A trial in the Regional Court is held and successful convictions send criminals to prison. The highest level of security is needed at prisons which requires aa proper number of workers. Fewer workers means lower security and worker loyalty also affects security.

Players have the option to play with this new system by disabling it. The difficulty level can also be lowered similar to that of the fires and seasons features.

Other additions in Update #9 include the highly-desired railway distribution office. Additional duty vehicles such as police cars are available. Prisoners can be used as a workforce with prison buses transporting them to and from industrial facilities. The update also includes several other gameplay and mechanics improvements. A more complete list of changes can be found on the game’s Steam page here.

Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic including Content Update #9 is available on Windows PC through Steam as an early access game for $29.99 USD. The Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic soundtrack is also available for $2.99 USD.
