Indie game developer Midgar Studio and publisher Dear Villagers have exited early access with Edge Of Eternity, their vast open-world JRPG. The indie title features epic turn-based battles in a monumental quest to find a cure for the all-consuming Corrosion.
A desperate war plagues the people of Heryon and a world torn asunder from a mysterious invader. The conflict has pitted magic and technology against each other with cataclysmic consequences. Now a new threat has emerged on the battlefield in the form of an all-consuming Corrosion, a deadly disease. In the epic story players control Daryon, a forlorn soldier, who risk everything in an effort to find a cure for a loved one. Players who embark on this journey will follow Daryon and his sister Selene as they fight to overcome the nearly impossible odds against them.
Epic turn-based tactical combat is at the core of the Edge Of Eternity’s gameplay. Players will need to outwit their enemies. The environment can be used to lure enemies into devious traps. By outsmarting and outflanking enemies one can land massive damaging hits.
A powerful crafting system allows players to make gear. Crafted gear can be inset with powerful crystals that unlock unique combinations of skills and power-ups. Only through mastering the tactical art of combat and the mystical language of crystals players can then only hope to be victorious on their quest.
The world of Heryon is beautiful and ready to be discovered. Ancient secrets wait to be unearthed in its ethereal environments. To help travel the world, giant pettable two-tailed cat-mounts are available. These trustworthy allies are both cute and useful. Their keen sense of smell will allow one to find hidden treasures. A stunning sublime soundtrack from Cédric Menendez, with the contribution of Yasunori Mitsuda, the composer of Chrono Trigger & Xenoblade Chronicles, brings the game world to life.
A large cast of charismatic characters and companions live throughout the world. These companions each have their own unique personalities and motivations. As players travel with their in-game friends they will discover their dreams, hopes, flaws, and torments through the shared moments.
Edge Of Eternity is available on Windows PC through Humble Bundle and Steam for $29.99 USD. A full release 15% off launch promotion is available until June 15, 2021. PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Game Pass releases for Edge Of Eternity are scheduled for Q4 2021. Dear Villagers (@DearVillagers Twitter) is the publishing branch of Plug In Digital. The publisher, previously known as Playdius, rebranded under the Dear Villagers brand in February 2019 after a $2.25 million investment. Currently they are working on building a line-up of titles on PC and consoles from several genres that includes RPG, Metroidvania, Rhythm Games, and Survival Management.
Midgar Studio (@MidgarStudio Twitter) is an independent game development studio based in Nimes, France. Since 2008 the studio has specialized in consoles and PC hardcore games. They do work for hire for a wide range of companies with console ports to 3D art and specialized programming.
