Game developer Ludomotion and publisher Big Sugar released Balancing Update #1: Guide Stones for the their procedural action-RPG Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer’s Legacy. This first update comes just one week after the early access release of the game on the Epic Games Store.
After hearing initial player feedback, the developer focused this first update on improving the early game experience with new content and gameplay changes. Guide stones are small statues that can give players buffs to help face the various difficulties of traveling. Various difficulty spikes in the early game content have been addressed. Easy mode is noticeably more easy. The creature roster of early game has expanded to include the likes of dire rats and a few other new surprises. Wildlife creatures now have improved fight or flight behaviors as they are aware of their own mortality.
The early access period of the game will last until the full 1.0 version is ready. Unexplored 2’s Balancing Update #1 is the first of many. Ludomotion is promising that there is plenty more to come as the early access development phase continues.
For those unfamiliar with Unexplored 2, the game is centered around a single quest to destroy the mysterious Staff of Yendor and unlimited adventure. The game is presented as a challenging roguelite RPG with a table-top feel. In addition the game features a cool twist on permadeath and has a procedural node-based open world. Both magical creatures and dangerous foes are waiting across the various landscapes and hidden marvels. All of this is combines with a unique legacy system, advanced procedural generation, an adaptive orchestral soundtrack and a rich generative storytelling experience.
Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer’s Legacy is available in early access on Windows PC through the Epic Games Store for $24.99 USD. Currently a 10% off sale for the game runs until 8:00 AM June 17, 2021.
