CRASH: Autodrive Visual Novel Arrives on Steam

Pennsylvania based indie game developer Studio Nightcap has kicked the tires on a murder mystery involving a self-driving vehicle in CRASH: Autodrive. The visual novel takes place in the near-future with a potentially homicidal self-driving Autocab and features a diverse cast of characters.

Emily Knight is a down and out college student. She is tasked with investigating the murder of a cyclist who was hit by a self-driving Autocab which contained three passengers. The plot twists and turns quickly as she discovers all three passengers not only knew the victim, but also have a motive for the crime. Even more shocking is the that the car’s A.I. has a motive as well.

Players stepping into Emily’s shoes will meet a diverse cast of interesting characters during the investigation. Spending time getting to know the characters, searching for clues, solving puzzles, and contradicting lies will help unravel the mystery. The journey allows players to explore sci-fi topics such as grey morality and what it means to be alive.

CRASH: Autodrive is my first game since leaving the large AAA teams and striking out on my own. I’m very excited to take all of that high quality AAA game making experience and apply it to my own smaller and more intimate games. I know this game is very different from previous games I’ve worked on, but I’m starting small and building up from there. My hope is that people will fall in love with the characters and be intrigued by the timely self-driving car ‘What if?’ tale I’m telling.

The game features both fun writing and a pleasing art style. To accompany the journey and the story that unfolds players are treated by some delightful ear candy with a bangin’ soundtrack.

CRASH: Autodrive is available on Windows PC through Steam for $9.99 USD. A launch 20% off discount promotion is available until April 27, 2021. The CRASH: Autodrive – Prologue, which acts like a demo chapter, is available for free on Steam. For more information about CRASH: Autodrive visit the game’s website at crashautodrive.com.
