Mayhem Games USA headed by solo developer Adam Gibson has released the first half of his story-rich first-person detective adventure The Detective Chapters: Part One. Out today on Steam, Windows PC players can now explore and learn about the importance of choices in this rich first-person investigation.
Players who jump into this detective mystery adventure will find themselves entering the role of an aspiring detective who is trying to make a name for themselves. However life for this detective seems to be heading in all the wrong directions. Both the mother and girlfriend are a source of stress and grief. Plus there is the death of the father who happened to die under mysterious circumstances.
As a college dropout who spends time working the graveyard shift at a convenience store the player must choose their path to happiness and find answers to long buried forgotten secrets. The detective’s mother is a drug-addicted alcoholic and his girlfriend is putting major pressure on the character to return to school.
Details around the fathers supposedly suicide are lacking the proper evidence for the given reason. The story reveals that when the main character came home from school one day, they found their father dead in the garage with the car engine running, garage doors closed and the place filled with fumes.
The game game is presented as a first-person point and click adventure that includes an interactive environment. A deep narrative takes place within a dark and gritty atmosphere that features multiple dialogue choices. Decisions made by the player will determine the ultimate outcome of the story. With the nature of the story one should take note that the game is intended for mature audiences as it deals with controversial subject matter.
The Detective Chapters: Part One is now available on Windows PC through Steam for $8.99 USD. A special launch promotion runs until January 28, 2021 that discounts the game by 5% on Steam. In addition the free demo is still available to play on Steam.
