Indie game developer Roslagen teased the city builder and RTS communities with a first look gameplay trailer of the self-explanatory title Viking City Builder. Along with the trailer’s premiere the developer released twelve screenshots showing off all that was the Viking Age.
May Odin be with players at the start of the Viking Age. There is so much to do for players. First territory needs to be claimed. Without land one cannot hunt to feed their Viking brothers and sisters. These lands will provide other valuable resources necessary to support one’s Norse civilization. Land will also be needed to build shelter, longhouses, boating houses, ritual houses and much more.
As a Jarl, the Viking leader, one might just need to build a glorious army. An army that will follow orders such as pillage and conquer various European villages. Once the area is claimed, build a new settlement and defend it against those pesky Europeans who want to take their land back. Plus when resources run low, just use the Viking warriors to pillage another village and steal their goods.
In the Viking City Builder gameplay trailer both the city building and RTS elements are shown in pre-alpha gameplay footage. All of the game’s stunning landscapes and gorgeous graphics are powered by the Unreal Engine. The game also takes advantage of Ray Tracing to enhance the visuals. All twelve releases screenshots alongside the trailer were taken straight from gameplay and give players a sense of the graphical fidelity one can expect to see in the finished product.
Viking City Builder is currently in development with a yet to be announced release date. Interested players can add the game to their Steam wishlist.
