Developed by Chaosmonger Studio and published by Assemble Entertainment, ENCODYA is a cyberpunk point and click adventure set in a dystopian future. This is the first big game project for Chaosmonger Studio featuring beautifully designed cinematic cutscenes by award-winning short and documentary director Nicola Piovesan.
In September 2019, the ENCODYA project held a successful Kickstarter that hit full after two weeks and even knocked out some stretch goals. Since then development and work continued behind the scenes to bring the beautiful world to life. Taking inspiration from the creativity of Studio Ghibli, the setting and atmosphere of Blade Runner and the humor and game style of Monkey Island, ENCODYA cuts loose with stunning 2.5D visuals. Using 3D characters for smoother animations in drawn 2D environments create a perfect blend for the future dystopia.
The point and click adventure of ENCODYA takes place over five chapters with over 110 day and night scenes and 15 cinematic cutscenes that detail the journey of orphan Tina. Residing in Neo Berlin in the year 2062, Tina struggles with life’s challenges as a 9 year old kid. A big clumsy robot guardian, SAM-53, accompanies her in the makeshift rooftop shelter that overlooks the dark corporate controlled megalopolis.
Living in the urban jungle, as a kid, Tina has had to learn to live alone, scavenge dumpsters for scraps and survive. No matter what, her robot guardian has been programmed to protect her and is always by her side. Eventually she discovers her father had left a very important mission for her, a plan to save the world from its grayness. Tina and SAM-53 embark upon this epic adventure that is full of puzzles, robotic creatures, exciting dialog, and some strange characters.
ENCODYA is scheduled for release on Windows, MacOS, and Linux in late 2020. Players can visit the game’s Steam page where they can add the game to their wishlist. During the Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition, ENCODYA will release a demo version that will be available during the June 16 to June 22, 2020 event.
