Ourea Adventure Puzzle Beta and Release Date

Indie game development studio Rewrite Games has set a release date and released a public beta for their adventure puzzle title Ourea. In March of this year Ourea was showcased at Fleadh, Ireland’s leading Game Design Event, where the team took home Best Game Built using a Game Engine and Best in Social Impact awards.

The story of Ourea is told as a cinematic puzzle adventure about discovering the past of a long-forgotten world. Players play as one of the last of the Oreads and unravel their mysterious history.

Oreads brought about their extinction through their own actions by abusing the environment. Elements of the narrative imitates the current world and highlights the importance of the climate crisis along with difficult decisions facing the world’s populace.

We feel that it is very important to anchor our narrative in a theme that easily relates to any individual so as to deliver an impactful story that stays with the player long after they are finished playing the game.

Tom Eustace, Design Lead, Rewrite Games

Ourea uses handcrafted cinematic moments throughout the game to put an emphasis while also enhancing the environmental story being told. These cinematic moments accompany the hand-painted textures that have been created for each model in the game creating a fun and casual adventure experience.

The release date for Ourea is set for July 21st. Ourea’s beta is available now on Itch.io for download. Players can add the game to their wishlist on Steam. More information about Ourea can be found on the game’s website oureagame.com or follow @OureaGame on Twitter.
