Gunpowder Games has released a brand new undead DLC, called the Dread Bundle, for their fast-paced naval combat game, Maelstrom. This second DLC comes on the heels of the Undead Wraith Bundle that added some ghostly content.
In the latest DLC, the ruthless undead captain, Morte Shadehowler is introduced. He commands the floating battleship Dread which has the passive ability that when an enemy ship damages the Dread, the attackers cannon accuracy is greatly reduced until the curse expires. Dark Miasma, Morte Shadehowler’s unique ability obscures the vision of nearby enemies.
The Ship Tier X ability is called Dread Spirit which periodically releases a pulse of souls that deal damage to nearby ships. Also included in the bundle are 3 undead mates and the Pitch Skin.
Like other undead ship’s, the Dread has the Siphon ability. Cannon damage dealt by the undead ship repair the armor slightly. This ability comes at the cost of having reduced armor.
We’re super excited to be releasing Dread as the second of three new ships. ‘Dread’ & her captain bring a hefty new playstyle with attrition tricks, a solid battery of cannons, as well as the ability to temporarily blind opponents!

After a Kickstarter and early access period, Maelstrom was released on Steam as a free to play title in September 2019. The game features fast-paced naval battles that combine both PvP and PvE elements in a dark fantasy world of magic and mystical monsters. Players can captain ships of various types such as orc, dwarf and human. Through upgrades to both ships and crew one can become the most dominate ship on the Abyssal Ocean.
Maelstrom is available on Steam as a free to play game. The Dread Bundle paid DLC and the Undead Wraith Bundle paid DLC are available at the regular price of $19.99 USD each. A special release promotion for Dread Bundle discounts the DLC down to $14.99 USD until March 11, 2020.
