Bare Knuckle Development has released their next space bullet hell shooter, Super Mega Space Blaster Special Turbo on Steam, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4 today.
The previously announced follow-up to Super Mega Space Blaster Special has unique features for each platform it is releasing on. Each platform has the original 5 game modes, over 40 challenges, 15 unique space blasters plus a unique ship exclusive to each platform, and a retro synth-pop soundtrack by Electric Fan Death.
PC users for Windows, Mac, and Linux have support for a large range of controllers including Xbox One, Xbox 360, DualShock 4, and Nintendo Switch Pro controllers. The Steam version allows for keyboard remapping with two bindings per action and a restore to default option. There are 36 Steam achievements and support for 4K resolution. In addition Steam Cloud Save and Steam Remote Play Together are supported.
Nintendo Switch features include all three Nintendo Switch play modes for handheld, table-top, and TV set at 1080p. Local 2 player is supported using one horizontal Joy-Con each and means when using individual horizontal Joy-Cons space blasters always shoot forward as there is no right stick for turret control. In addition the Nintendo Switch Pro controller is supported along with HD rumble and Save Cloud Data.
PlayStation 4 features include 36 PlayStation trophies along with a platinum trophy. Support for DualShock 4 lightbars helps identify each player and a 4K resolution is available on the PS4 Pro.
All versions come with the 40 plus challenges that allow for the collection of extra coins which in turn can be used to unlock more ships, upgrade weapons and power-ups in the shop. Each ship has their own strengths and weaknesses for players to use take full advantage of from turrets that utilize twin stick controls to fast maneuverable ships.
Super Mega Space Blaster Special Turbo is available now on Steam for Windows, Linux and Mac and the Nintendo Switch and PS4 for consoles. The game will is priced at $4.99 USD with a special launch promotion on Steam discounting the game by 10%.
