Glass Revolver along with publisher Armor Games Studios have announced that their bullet hell boss rush title, ITTA is coming to PC and Nintendo Switch later this year. Along with the announcement comes trailers for the PC and Nintendo Switch.
Combining bullet hell with boss-rush style, ITTA follows the story of a little girl named Itta that is only armed with her father’s revolver and guided a ghostly cat. On her journey, Itta will explore the strange and beautiful pixel art world filled with cosmic beings in hope to find answers and possibly peace.
Players are tasked with seeking out these powerful beings locked away beneath the otherwise peaceful world. From ancient golems to toothy horrors, players will fight them in fierce battles pushing both the player and Itta to their limits and beyond. Along the way, players can change up their combat style by finding weapons with unique attacks. If things become too tough, toggling on invincibility or player damage multipliers should provide that necessary boost.
The 2D game world of ITTA was inspired by themes of personal struggle and the idea that is there is light, there is also darkness. However, no matter one endures along the way, the most important thing to remember is to keep going.
I started designing ITTA in late December 2016 while staying in a psych ward. I was at the lowest point of my life. ‘Itta’ is Japanese for ‘gone’. It was to be a bleak, depressing game, with no hint of levity or hope. Then, near the end of my stay, an older woman around 60 who had been there for the better part of a year approached me and gave me a goodbye present – a papercraft she had made earlier that day. As a reminder to myself I made her papercraft a prominent symbol in the game, dotted around the world. And as my outlook on life slowly began to change, so too did the game: I didn’t want ITTA to be devoid of light any more.
