Silver Lemur Games has released the long-awaited Age of Technology expansion to their 4X asymmetric grand space empire builder, Stellar Monarch. In past Nano Gaming News Weekly Rewinds a preview of Stellar Monarch’s first expansion was showcased for the December 9, 2019 expansion release date that now has arrived.
The space themed grand strategy game’s first expansion focuses primarily on technology and science. There are new optional research mechanics which includes random technologies, hidden technologies, and additional technologies. Additionally there are new planet types, a terraforming mechanic, new alien races, astro engineers, satellites mechanic, and the construction of megastructures.
A fearsome mobile battle station, the Imperial Battlestar, is a megastructure that helps strengthen defenses and ensures internal security. The Homeworld Reconstruction megastructure lets players turn Terra into a Megacity planet. Players looking to deal with The Hive and its annoyances can do so with the Subspace Inhibitor.
Toxic and Steppe planet types along with three new asymmetric alien races, Hyberians, Mechatrons, and Exotrians, that can activate at random along with all the new technologies create more opportunities for players to experience the grand scale of the Stellar Monarch universe.
Players who are looking to play the game without the expansion will have an option to disable the expansion or to play it with only some features enabled. This allows every player to customize their own gameplay to suit their own tastes.
Stellar Monarch The Age of Technology expansion is now available on Steam for $9.99 USD. The Stellar Monarch base game is required to play the expansion and is available on Steam for $19.99 USD. Until December 16, 2019 the base game is on sale for $9.99 USD and the Age of Technology expansion for $8.99 USD. A DRM free digital download version is also available to purchase on the game’s website. For the latest information on Stellar Monarch and it’s expansion visit the game’s website.
