Zenyatta Year of the Pig Overwatch Skin Previewed

Blizzard Entertainment on the 5th day of Overwatch’s Year of the Pig skin Twitter previews announced Zhuge Liang Zenyatta late Tuesday night.

The Lunar New Year 2019 seasonal event for Overwatch is taking inspiration from the 14th century Chinese novel The Romance of The Three Kingdoms. In the novel there were five historical figures featured from the end of the Han dynasty (206 BC–220 AD) and Three Kingdoms (220-280 AD) period.

Previous previewed skins for Overwatch’s Lunar New year, Year of the Pig event include Zhang Fei TorbjörnGuan Yu ReinhardtLü Bu Reaper, and Huang Zhong Hanzo all of which are historical figures also in above Chinese novel.

Zhuge Liang Zenyatta is a take on Zhuge Liang a Chinese politician, military strategist, writer, engineer and inventor that lived between 184 and 234. He is recognized as the most accomplished strategist of his era and often compared to Sun Tzu the author of The Art of War.

Zenyatta’s Year of the Pig skin features a yin yang symbol on his back along with a white and shades of jade green dressings. A tabard hangs down his front with Chinese symbols. Overall the skin is somewhat fitting since Zenyatta is effectively a philosopher and has a political history with Omnic movements.

Overwatch’s Lunar New Year seasonal event for Year of the Pig is set to begin on Thursday, January 24 and continue until Monday, February, 18, 2019. For players that have yet to earn their 3 loot boxes from Arcade mode should hold off until Thursday to maximize their chances at the new Lunar New Year skins and event items.
