Blizzard Entertainment at BlizzCon 2018 announced today an HD remake of Warcraft III.
Warcraft III Reforged is a top-to-bottom upgrade to the classic RTS that includes a stunning visual update, over four hours of updated in-game cutscenes, and full Battle.net integration. The game also features modernized matchmaking and tournament support with plans to provide game support well into the future.
Both Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne expansion will be included in Warcraft III Reforged.
Blizzard is making a pledge of support for the creator community and is adding an upgraded World Editor. Since Warcraft III’s launch in 2002, a dedicated community of mapmakers has kept the game thriving. Existing maps will be playable in Reforged and players will be able to use the new matchmaking tools to find other players.
Warcraft III: Reforged is scheduled for release in 2019. The game is available for pre-purchase for $29.99 for the standard edition. The Spoils of War Edition which includes unique skins for four hero units, Meat Wagon mount for World of Warcraft, Third War card back for Hearthstone, and much more.
