Fireshine Games and Swedish game developer Pugstorm have released the Shimmering Frontier free content update for Core Keeper. Explore a glistening new crystal biome environment and discover new crafting materials.
A new crystal-based biome awaits. The Shimmering Frontier update takes the mining sandbox survival adventure to a whole new area with a brand new material, Solarite ore. Discover new recipes and use the new ore to craft Solarite-enhanced equipment that includes an improved Mining Pick, Fishing Rod, Sword and Crossbow.
Use the brand new Upgrade Station to upgrade gear. Players can level up their favorite weapons and tools for the first time in Core Keeper. Discover over 50 new pieces of armor and weapons, such as the Razor Flake, Shard Club and the gooey Slime Staff. Other examples include the enemy HP leeching Larva Fang necklace and the inventory increasing Trench Coat.
The powerful new Roofing Gadget tool can crack open the ceiling to reveal beams of light. For those who like to move and dig simultaneously, the Hand Drill now makes this feat possible. Drill through walls in record time with the Obliteration Ray. When wielded, the highly destructive Obliteration Ray mines faster than any other equipment in the game.
With a new biome comes new enemies, creatures, and characters. Giant Crystal Snails can be found roaming the frontier along with creepy crawly Nilipedes and crystal-mimicking Mimites. A Crystal Merchant is ready to make a deal with new items to trade.
Defeat the Atlantean Worm. This new colossal boss is optional and lurks deep below the waves in the Sunken Sea biome.
Test out combat skills in all-new battle events. All are challenged in these arena-based combat scenarios with only the most courageous walking away with shinny rewards. Find over 50 new pieces of armor and equipment.
Other changes in the Shimmering Frontier update include a range of quality of life improvements and. new performance optimizations. Enhanced water physics, improved enemy balancing, new player customizations, and six additional Steam achievements are additional examples of all the content packed in this massive update.

Based in London, England, the 2014 established company originally operated under the Sold Out label. In March 2022, Sold Out rebranded itself as Fireshine Games. The updated brand name that better suited the company moving forward since digital games have a difficult time being sold out.
Pugstorm (@pugstormgames X (formerly Twitter)) is a game development studio that specializes in pixel art games. Based in Sweden, the 2016 founded studio won a prize for their concept behind Radical Rabbit Stew. The studio went on to form a publishing deal with the then Sold Out, now Fireshine Games, to finalize and release the game. Currently the studio is busy working on their second title, Core Keeper.
