Assemble Entertainment and developer Moral Anxiety Studio released a demo for their illustrated text-based RPG, Roadwarden. Along with the Steam demo, is an all-new teaser trailer and a September release date announcement.
Taking elements of high fantasy and merging them with a medieval adventure, the game tells the story of a hired explorer on a mysterious peninsula. Hired by a powerful merchant guild to spread their influence, players will face the challenges of a hostile fantasy world and its sinister history.
Gameplay features a distinct isometric pixel art style and mechanics found in RPGs, visual novels, and interactive fiction. Over 40 hours of gameplay is spread across the branching dialogue choices, offering hundreds of thousands lines of text. Players can immerse themselves into the detailed dialogues and side quests. Dozens of NPCs are available that will offer support once their trust is earned.
Character abilities are upgraded along the journey. The epic journey features a classical RPG attitude. As either a warrior, mage, or scholar, players can define their character’s traits during their interactions with various NPCs.
To access the Roadwarden demo visit the game’s Steam page where it can be downloaded. The demo’s download size is approximately 700 MB.
Roadwarden is scheduled to release on September 8, 2022, via Steam for $10.99/£8.29/€10.99. Players can wishlist and follow the game now on Steam.
