Strange Scaffold released their sci-fi body-horror market tycoon game Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator on Steam for PC and on Xbox consoles. The label’s self-published title is available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S as well as Xbox Game Pass for PC.
In this 2D pixelized action-based economics game, players are challenged to fulfill orders for clients who are seeking various types of meat flesh. To accomplish this task one will want to scour the markets for the best deals while keeping the organs safe in their cargo bay. A word of caution, some organs might be a bit dangerous and will require special care.
Once the market closes there are still plenty of things to do. Between trading days players can sell organ stocks or evaluate market trends. Investigating opposing organ traders can help give one the upper hand. Lastly there is the option of upgrading the cargo hold in preparation for more organ capacity and organ type capability. With complex cargo mechanics, wide variety of quests, various events, constantly changing trade environment, and numerous items there are plenty of things to keep players busy and on their toes both during the market and after the market’s close.
The only comparison I have to working on a game about absurdist economics during the public saga surrounding GameStop stock, rise of NFTs, and seemingly unyielding plunge into the metaverse is experiencing complete ego death. Walking into a sensory deprivation chamber that is then hurled bodily directly over a cliff – a state of feeling everything and nothing all at once, all the time, forever. We hope players enjoy the strange and unexpectedly nuanced world that resulted.

Sam Chiet (@SamNChiet Twitter), leader programmer and known for his experimental engineering feats as seen in Desktop Goose, has improvised a solution for Kinect support into the PC version of the game. In other words players can use their own meat flesh to control a game about trading other’s meat flesh. In addition or rather as a bonus, the game includes various tracked statistics about the player character such as how many breaths one has taken since the start. This serves as a friendly reminder of one’s mortality as they participate in the capitalistic organ markets.
Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator is available on Windows PC through Steam for $19.99 USD. To celebrate the PC release a 15% off discount is available until December 14, 2021, on Steam. A console version for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S is available from Microsoft for $19.99 USD. The game is also available on Xbox Game Pass for PC.
