Chaosmonger Studio has set a release date set for early November for their story-driven platformer Clunky Hero. This is the multi-disciplinary production studio’s second game behind the January 2021 release of Encodya.
Meet Rufus. He is calling for help as his wife has been kidnapped. Naturally Rufus wants to get his wife back. Armed with a broom and a bucket, he sets off to take on all the challenges that lie ahead. In a journey full of action, humor, and mystery players will traverse this innovative take on the metroidvania genre to defeat the Evil One and liberate Rufus’ wife.
Gameplay takes place in a bizarre and exciting 2D world. There are nearly 40 different levels set in seven different areas and more than 15 interiors. Players can also partake in side quests, discover weapons, and fight bosses along their journey. There are six skills for players to master: double jump, dash, dive, cling, range shot, and blasting attack. Eight different bonus items on top of three bonus slots allow players to boost their skills and abilities.
Along one’s travels players are able to trade items at various shops in the game. Side quests also provide valuable experience to help level up the character. The game also has loads of humor through funny dialogues to interesting items and weapons. Currently the game will support eight languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Russian, Traditional Chinese.
I’m very excited for the Early Access of Clunky Hero! The game development is yet to be done, but the gameplay should keep players busy for at least 8 hours of fun, in which they can complete the story, even if a tiny bit shorter than in the full version. We are really looking forward to the players’ feedback and suggestions, since they will help us improve Clunky Hero, to make it bigger and better, in every aspect.
