Indie developer Pine Studio released their next-gen escape room game, Escape Simulator, the offers colorful cooperative fun for all. This self-published game comes from the same team behind other puzzle games such as Cats in Time and Faraway: Puzzle Escape. Previously the game was a “Festival Favourite” at Yogscast’s TinyTeams Steam Festival and a Finialist in the “Indie Celebration” at Digital Dragons 2021.
Designed with input from real-world escape room operators, Escape Simulator offers a first-person escape room experience. Whether solo or online in co-op with others, players must solve their way through a collection of interactive escape rooms. These quirky puzzles will put both wits and teamwork to the test.
Puzzles take players on a journey to various unique environments. From ancient Egypt to an adrift space shuttle players will need to decipher the various clues and the means to escape. How players approach the eccentric Victorian library of Edgewood Mansion or solve any of the 15 puzzle-filled levels of mysteries in the game is ultimately up to them.
We designed Escape Simulator to be the ultimate escape room experience. It’s got everything you’d expect from a top-notch IRL room – challenging puzzles, wacky props, secrets, and lavish decor. But it’s also got some special things you could never do in a real-life room! Players can smash stuff, gather clues in zero-gravity, and play together even if they live thousands of miles apart. Plus, users seem to love wreaking havoc and making a total mess. So, I guess you could say it’s the best of both worlds.

A level editor is included in the release. Via Steam Workshop integration players can use the editor to design and share their own unique escape rooms. These new rooms will help to collectively build the ultimate library of escape rooms for friends and the community.
Escape Simulator is available on Windows, Mac, and Linux for PC through Steam for $14.99 USD. A 10% off special launch promotion runs until October 26, 2021. Previously the developer announced that after the PC launch the game will appear on mobile, console and VR platforms.
