Viperante has launched the first game in a Short Story Series of five standalone first-person point-and-click games with The Death of Erin Myers release.
Meet Erin Myers. She was a cop and now she is dead. Players step into her character and step back in time as they puzzle their way through 9 prominent moments in Erin Myers life. Each of these moments will begin to reveal who she was and what happened to her know that what has happened in done and she can’t be saved. However, just maybe, Erin Myers can be understood.
I can’t give too much away without spoiling the mystery, but what I wanted to do with Erin Myers was tell a story that was primarily about character. What might have happened to someone in the past that would put them in a particular situation now? What is driving them to do the things they’re doing? And how do they feel about it all? And if we don’t have to worry about where we’re going to end up, because we already know, then we can concentrate on the specifics of how we’re getting there, which in some cases, might be a lot more interesting.

The Short Story Series is an anthology of five standalone games. Each game is designed to last between one and two hours with each telling a different self-contained story. All of the games include standard point-and-click adventure game elements and styling that includes exploration, interacting with other characters, and the picking up and using objects to solve puzzles.
Even though each game is designed to be unrelated, they will all share certain dark and macabre elements of mystery, horror, and science fiction.
The Death of Erin Myers is available on Steam and DRM-free from Itch.io for $1.99 USD. A special release promotion runs until May 3, 2019 on both platforms at a price of $1.79 USD.
