Publisher Whitethorn Games and developer Balloon Studios have announced that Xbox pre-orders are available for Botany Manor, an immersive sim about discovering and growing mysterious flora in 19th century England. The game ships in April on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox family of consoles.
Home to retired botanist Arabella Greene, the estate of Botany Manor contains her collection of rare, long-forgotten plants. To help the plants live again, players will step into the role of Arabella and comb through her notes and explore the historic grounds for clues to determine what is needed to make the unusual flora flourish.
New seeds can be unlocked and planted. Around the property are a variety of interactable objects that can be turned and flipped to help solve each gardening puzzle. Grow the plants and discover their mysterious qualities. Along the journey players will learn about Arabella’s life, career, and the challenges she faced as a woman scientist during the 19th century.
In addition to the Botany Manor Xbox pre-order announcement, three teaser images of some of the forgotten flora were released. With its pretty pink flower and air-purifying qualities, the Windmill Wort thrives in smoggy environments and requires hot temperatures to germinate. The Ash Plume is a plant that can survive harsher conditions and is know to grow in the smoke aromas left behind after forest fires. As one of the more unique plants, the Fool’s Emerald is a flora that grows in habitats without any light and features illuminated buds.
Screens of all three plants are viewable below. These three plants are just a hint of what players can expect in the full release of Botany Manor in early April.
