Indie game developer Goonswarm has launched their roguelite RPG, Sin Slayers: Reign of the 8th, on PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG. Players are being sent back to the dark, sin-filled world that has been reimagined and expanded upon in the original Sin Slayers.
Enter a dark fantasy world resembling 1990’s dark pixel art that is consumed by the Eight Deadly Sins: Pride, Wrath, Greed, Envy, Lust, Sloth, Gluttony, and now Faith. Each sin resides in its own brand new region, complete with monstrous enemies, loot, and representative Sin Lord.
The story begins by assembling a team of cursed heroes. Each hero is unique with their own abilities and backstory. Carve a path through procedurally generated dungeons that will test a player’s strategy, resourcefulness, and resolve.
Victors of the tactical turn-based combat can then master the art of loot collection and crafting. Customize heroes with gear, stats, and abilities to fit one’s playstyle. Effective and careful party management is critical for survival in the escalating challenges in this brutal world.
Morality is not just a themed, but rather a mechanic. Choices will decide one’s fate as the Sin-o-Meter will dynamically adjust the game’s difficulty and rewards. Players may decide a cautious approach to avoid angering the world or they may dive into greedful ways and face overwhelming odds. Every action can alter the journey making no playthrough the same.
Sin Slayers: Reign of the 8th Availability
Sin Slayers: Reign of the 8th is now available on Windows, Mac, and Linux via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG for $19.99. For a limited time following the November 25, 2024, PC launch, Sin Slayers: Reign of the 8th will be available on at 40% discount. Steam users can play a demo on the platform.
A release date for console versions will be announced in early 2025 for PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
