Solo developer Adam Stewart of One Man Left Studios has released a new trailer announcing their next game, Mage Food Truck. This deckbuilding roguelike game allows players to craft and deliver exotic meals to customers in a world of magic.
In Mage Food Truck, players utilize their growing card collection to explore the hangry realm. Full of fantastical beasts and curse-launching dissatisfied customers, players will attempt to craft and deliver meals.
Each run in the single player game consists of a Morning, Day, and Night shift, with turn events. As the shifts progress so does the difficulty of the events. Players will play hands from their card collection to traverse the realm, collect ingredients, craft recipes, and deliver them to customers while earning as much gold as possible. At the day’s end or if the truck gets wrecked, customers will judge their food with a review system of 0-3 stars.
There are four members in the food truck crew: Bard, Chef, Explorer, and Mage. Bards motivate the crew with EXP and unlock unique powerful special cards for each crew member. The Chef is responsible for crafting delicious dishes from collected ingredients. Explorers drive the food truck around the map to collect ingredients and deliver food. Mages are left to protect the truck with a magic shield and fight off pesky curses.
The work day begins with a small starter deck. At the end of each turn, players can purchase new cards from Turvy Mart. Job cards allow players to use any crew member’s ability. Combine job cards with others to boost productivity.
Game features include 3 tutorial scenarios and 2 replayable scenarios offering players the option to ease into the gameplay mechanics or dive right into them. Use the Scoville menu to add in some spice, increasing the difficulty, and gain a score multiplier. There are more than 15 ingredients and over 25 delicious illustrated recipes to craft. Over 40 unique events can either bless or curse the food truck.
A Score Attack challenges players to craft and deliver as much food as possible before the work day ends. An optional Vegetarian Mode is available for those who eliminate meat. This mode includes some unique recipes.
An announcement trailer is available for viewing below and on the One Man Left YouTube channel. The trailer features all four characters and gives a brief look at the gameplay mechanics. Check out the trailer and watch out for those road goblins.
