Independent publisher and developer QUByte Interactive have released Top Racer Collection, the retro 2D arcade racing game collection, on PC and consoles.
After a brief delay and a demo release this past January, Top Racer Collection brings three iconic 1990s 16-bit 2D arcade racing classics together in one package: Top Racer, Top Racer 2 and Top Racer 3000. New online features, the brand new Top Racer Crossroads, and more exclusive content such as four new cars are also included in the collection. In total there are four games in the collection.
Originally released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), Top Racer first appeared in the American market under the name of Top Gear in 1992. The new collection comes with plenty of features to give players a nostalgic 1990s gameplay experience. Vibrant graphics, iconic soundtracks, and filters to create the nostalgic look are featured in the collection.
Leading up to the collection’s launch, QUByte Interactive released a video series titled “INSIDE TOP RACER” that showcased important engaging gameplay features. The first of the two-episode series discussed Online Mode gameplay. This mode allows for multiplayer races in any of the collection’s games.
In the second episode, Custom Cup Mode and Attack Mode were discussed. Custom Cup Mode allows players to choose 4 tracks and create a cup of their choice from the game of their choice. This mode supports single player and multiplayer races. Time Attack Mode is a race against the clock. Set map records by improving driving skills.
Challenge friends and opponents from all over the world in the Ranked Mode. A Campaign Mode is also available. There are over 140 tracks from around the world and beyond to race on in this collection whose tires first hit the track over 30 years ago.
Top Racer Collection Availability
Top Racer Collection is available on Windows PC via Steam and on consoles for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation for PS4 and PS5, and on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S for $19.99. A 10% off introductory discount is available on Steam until March 13, 2024.
