Indie game developer Orc Chop Games has announced a March release date for their narrative turn-based RPG, Goblin Stone. The award-winning title takes the side of goblins and features storybook-inspired visuals with voice narration.
Help the goblins survive. After being hunted to near extinction, players will side with the goblins and fend off adventurous humans looking for loot, pompous elves, and surly dwarves. Navigate treacherous paths and travel through procedurally-generated adventures. On adventures, the band of goblins may encounter useful merchants and potentially cursed shrines where one can press their luck. Embracing tactical and roguelike elements, the game makes death permanent further raising the stakes for goblinkind.
When players are not battling adventurers and bosses, they will oversee the construction of an underground lair. From the barracks to the war room, each offers a place for goblins to thrive. A breeding system enables players to combine the best goblin genes to improve their attributes and customize fighters for the battles that lie ahead.
The 2D world of Goblin Stone features a hand-drawn environment of over 150 fully illustrated images with a uniquely stunning artistic storybook styling. Scottish voice actor James Smillie lends his vocal skills to the fully narrated adventure. Award-winning composer Peter McConnell (Hearthstone, Psychonauts 2, and Monkey Island) provides the melodic musical backdrop for the game.
Hundreds of combinations are possible between the various goblin classes, weapons, abilities, and map paths. There are over 60 different enemy types and 25 Boss battles. The game has over 40 hours of gameplay as players work to save the goblin race from extinction.
