Have a Nice Death Launches on PC and Nintendo Switch

Gearbox Publishing and developer Magic Design Studios have released their charmingly dark 2D action roguelike game, Have a Nice Death, on PC and Nintendo Switch.

After a year-long Early Access run on Steam, the game is ready for millions of mortals to step into the shoes of Death, Death Incorporated’s CEO. The company’s solo existence is for the processing of souls in the afterlife, however, the company is now in disarray from some insubordinate employees. It is now time to don a cloak, grab a scythe, and put some unruly employees back in line.

All of us at Magic Design Studios are beyond ecstatic for all mortals to finally jump into the full game and join Death Incorporated. Development on Have a Nice Death has been incredible – from our big announcement at the Game Awards to releasing the game in Early Access — the support we’ve received means so much to us. We’d like to especially thank our Early Access players who have given us such valuable feedback – which helped us not only make the hack’n’scythe adventure we wanted, but what roguelike fans wanted as well. Whether you’re new to Have a Nice Death or you’ve been playing it since it launched in Early Access, we hope you enjoy your time in Death Inc.!

Simon Dutertre, Lead Game Designer at Magic Design Studios

This hack’n’scythe adventure features eight procedurally generated departments of Death Incorporated. The departments (worlds) include a diverse cast of characters. Players can utilize over 70 weapons and spells to round up and rehabilitate rogue employees who seem keen on ignoring company protocol.

Each department’s boss, know as Sorrows, have been grabbing far too many souls on Earth. As CEO, it is up to the player to show these minions who is the boss.

Magic Design Studios has created an unforgettable roguelike that represents the studio’s unbelievable creativity and decades of experience designing games. All of us at Gearbox Publishing are proud of what the studio has accomplished. From day one, we have believed and supported the team’s mission for crafting a roguelike that’s unlike any other in the genre. With Have a Nice Death’s darkly charming art style, dark comedy narrative, interesting cast of characters and fast-paced combat, we believe it’s a unique roguelike that any fan of the genre will enjoy.

Yoon Im, President of Gearbox Publishing San Francisco

With the full launch of Have a Nice Death, players will for the first time get to experience the eighth department of Death Incorporated, the Inevitable Time Department. This department is packed with deadly treats, new bosses, enemies, and weapons. Plus this department concludes the game’s main storyline “quality-of-death” and rumor has it there are some secrets to uncover here as well.

Have a Nice Death is available on PC via Humble Bundle and Steam and on Nintendo Switch for $24.99. For more information follow @JoinDeathInc on Twitter, like @JoinDeathInc on Facebook, or visit haveanicedeath.com.
