Developer and publisher Tate Multimedia S.A. today released the 3D platformer Kao the Kangaroo on PC and consoles. Today’s series reboot release comes more than 20 years after the original debut of Kao the Kangaroo.
Originally released in November 2000, Kao the Kangaroo, was available on Windows PC, Dreamcast, and Game Boy Advance. During development the game was known as Denis the Kangaroo. The original series collectively sold more than 700,000 units around the world for a total of four games launched across PC, PlayStation 2, PSP, Nintendo GameCube, Xbox, Game Boy Advance, and SEGA Dreamcast. In Poland, the game maintained a near cult-like status with its popularity. For example the original title sold more than 45,000 copies in Poland alone.
This entirely new adventure follows Kao, pronounced K-O, on a journey to find his missing sister and solve the mystery of what happened to his long-lost father. Once again this marsupial will don his magical boxing gloves and travel the world confronting famous fighting masters all of which are under the influence of a dark power. Punching a path forward, Kao will journey through the vibrant and colorful world including the Eternal World. This chaos filled realm of mystery will grant Kao its secrets, but at a cost.
Today’s the day people will finally be able to get their hands on Kao the Kangaroo – assuming they take their boxing gloves off first. This is an entirely new adventure that both honours Kao’s previous outings, as well as offers fresh takes on the 3D platformer that newcomers can also appreciate. It’s a complete reboot for Kao, and it’s amazing to finally get the game out there!
