Ratalaika Games and Asteristic Game Studio have digitally released the 2D top-down adventure, Dandy & Randy DX, on consoles and PC. Set on an island full of dangers and riches the games two main characters, Dandy Duck and Randy Rabbit, are ready for adventure and a means to clear their debts.
The cute action-filled puzzler can be played alone or with a friend in co-op mode. Taking inspiration from old fashioned arcade gaming fun, this cutesy game has loads of fun tools or weapons for players to use. A boomerang can stun enemies and grab health pickups. Stones can be broken-up using a hammer which may open new paths or uncover riches. Players can traverse dangerous areas with the hookshot. Running shoes aid players with faster movement, avoiding dangers and solving quick puzzles.
Dandy Duck is a pink duck that loves archaeology and discovery. Randy Rabbit is not only Dandy’s partner, he is a fan of technology, adventure, and loves flying his plane. Both, however are facing bankruptcy.
To rid their debts, Dandy and Randy take-up a promotional flyer offer to gain riches in a faraway island filled with riches. Others have came to the island looking for riches that will confront the duo. For example Otto the Octopus, also the first boss of the game, is a part of the NoGood pirates who are wreaking havoc on the island. Bruno the Bear is another member of the same gang. Natalia is the boss of the NoGood pirates will not tolerate anyone who stands in her way as she claims the island’s riches.
More characters can be unlocked through gameplay. All over the island treasures can be found from laying out in the open to clever hiding spots. Help is available through a shop system. The combined cutesy pixel art and creative chiptune original soundtrack create a game that is fun for all gamers.
Dandy & Randy DX is available digitally on Windows PC through Steam and for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S for $6.99. A PC demo is available on Steam. For additional information visit the publisher’s game page here.
