Ratalaika Games along with Brazilian indie developer Asteristic Game Studio announced that the 2D top-down adventure, Dandy & Randy DX, is set to release digitally this Friday. The cute action-filled puzzler will be available on both PC and consoles.
Played alone or with a friend in co-op mode, this cutesy game takes inspiration from old fashioned arcade gaming fun. Dandy Duck is a pink duck that loves archaeology and discovering new things. However, Dandy is in deep debt. Randy Rabbit is not only Dandy’s partner, he is a fan of technology, adventure, and loves flying his plane.
To escape their bankrupt situation, both Dandy and Randy jump on a promotional flyer offer to gain riches in a faraway island. While the island does offer riches, there are a range of enemies that will confront the team. For example Otto the Octopus, also the first boss of the game, is a part of the NoGood pirates who are wreaking havoc on the island. Bruno the Bear is another member of the NoGood pirate gang. There is also Natalia who is searching for riches on the island and as the boss of the NoGood pirates will not tolerate anyone who stands in her way.
Loads of fun tools or weapons can be found on the island. A boomerang can stun enemies and grab health pickups. The hammer can break stones, opening up paths and uncovering riches. With a hookshot players can traverse dangerous areas. Running shoes help players move faster, avoid dangers, and solve quick puzzles.
Through gameplay more characters can be unlocked. Treasures can be found out in the open or in hidden spots. A shop system with encouraging help is available. The combined cutesy pixel art and creative chiptune original soundtrack create a game that is fun for all ages.
Dandy & Randy DX is set to release on Friday, April 29, 2022. The game will be available digitally on Windows PC through Steam and for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S for $6.99. A PC demo is available on Steam.
