Hammerting Relations Update Out Now

Team17 and developer Warpzone Studios released the Relations Update for their dwarven mining simulation Hammerting. This update includes a food and rest system revamp along with morale changes as the game digs towards its November 16, 2021 early access exit.

Relationships are at the heart of this update for Hammerting. All dwarves now have opinions of their friends and others around them. These opinions will move their the dwarves into different relation statuses. The relations a dwarf has with another will also influence their opinion of them. Being in different clans will affect dwarf opinions towards each other tends towards negative opinions.

Dwarves will now stop and chat with each other. Their topic of conversation can be about almost anything and everything. Depending on their relations and if the other dwarf had good points they will walk away with a higher or lower opinion of the other dwarf.

A moral or energy boost is now possible for dwarves. News stats impact how these can be impacted. Empathy will make a dwarf more likely to like the other dwarf. Social competence makes other dwarves like them more. For the socially starved dwarves they will head to the nearest tavern to chat up about the latest gossip.

In the Dwarf UI a new relations window has been added. New trait of Skald has been added along with a new knowledge, Common Heritage. When a dwarf is low on energy they will try to find a place to sleep. Dwarves who are assigned a dwelling will always sleep in their dwelling. For those without will try to find the nearest dry spot to catch a nap. Energy is primarily restored through sleeping instead of eating.

Hunger is now represented by its own status bar. Every time a dwarf eats a piece of food they will gain a food-based effect modifier which will provide a buff or debuff depending on the quality of the food item consumed. Dwarf level increases their hunger.

The Relations Update for Hammerting also includes a wide ranges of gameplay, performance, UI, AI, auto-equip, and stability improvements and bug fixes. A more complete list of changes can be found here.

There are more planned updates in the pipeline for the early access roadmap. Included in the list are Fishing and Farming, Beauty and Decor, and Quality of Life updates.

Hammerting is currently available as an early access game on Windows PC from Humble BundleSteam, GOG, and Epic Games Store and for $24.99 USD. The full PC launch is scheduled for November 16, 2021. For more information about Hammerting follow @hammerting on Twitter or visit hammerting.com.
