Capricia Productions and publisher All in! Games are delivering, Of Bird and Cage, a story intertwined with metal music album this week on Steam. Dark, twisted, and full of music, the game takes players on a 3D two hour story of trauma, violence, and madness based off the classic Beauty and the Beast tale.
Gitta Barbot is a 25 year old drug addict. Players, as Gitta, will try to escape the physical and metal prison of her captor Bres Lupus. Choices need to be quick and their outcomes will have dire consequences. As the story unfolds players will watch how their actions reveal new paths all while struggling to their sanity.
In the same month of the game’s release, at the fourth qualifier of the Nordic Game Discovery Contest (NGDC) Season V at the annual Brazil’s Independent Games Festival beat out all competition for a big win. Later this year, November, the NGDC will host their Grand Finals where Of Bird and Cage will compete once more.
We are very excited and surprised to win! As funny as it sounds – while this is a pretty big project for indie games, we are very used to being the underdog. When we started the project 6 years ago pretty much every investor we talked to told us that what we want to do doesn’t make any sense and no one understood why we are doing this in the first place. Getting such great feedback so close to the game’s release and seeing people who ‘get it’ and get what we are trying to achieve is incredible and beyond words for us.

A soundtrack composed by Arnold Nesis accompanies the game. Kobra Paige (Kobra and the Lotus), Danny Worsnop (Asking Alexandria), and Davidavi ‘Vidi’ Dolev (Gunned Down Horses) voice the characters. Other artists involved in the project’s creation are Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (ex-Guns N’ Roses), Rob van der Loo (Epica), Ruud Jolie (Within Temptation), Casey Grillo (ex-Kamelot), Rocky Gray (ex-Evanescence), Mike Lepond (Symphony X), Danny Worsnop (Asking Alexandria), Tina Guo and Snowy Shaw (ex-King Diamond, ex-Therion).
Of Bird and Cage and its metal music is heading to Windows PC on Thursday, May 20, 2021 through Steam. A demo is available at this time on Steam where players can also add the game to their wishlist.
