Polish indie game developer Blinkclick Games have released an announcement trailer and the first details of their upcoming environmental puzzle platformer My Father My Son. The game offers a unique twist on the genre by having two characters to control at once.
In either solo or or co-op, players take on two characters, a father and son, as they struggle to survive by solving environmental puzzles. What was meant to be a great cruise for adventure after the death of the son’s mother has since turned into a nightmare when their boat was damaged.
After washing up on a deserted island shore, both the father and son who had grown distant from each other must learn to bridge their gap. Not only have both found themselves on this abandoned island not seen on any maps, but now they find themselves persecuted by a dark hostile character and island with a hidden secret.
Everything in game is presented in a 2.5D side view point. The art style is a low-poly art style characterized as a presentation of objects as simple blocks invoking the stylization of Pablo Picasso. As players progress through the puzzle challenges, with thrilling arcade sequences, they will engage in a deep story about a father’s relationship with his son.
Solo players are able to control both the father and son simultaneously. In co-op gameplay either locally on a single screen or online players will control one character. Both keyboard and game pad support allows players their prefer choice of gameplay input method as they learn the strengths and weaknesses of each character.
My Father My Son will launch on Steam when it is released on PC in 2022 and the announcement trailer can be seen below. Ports are planned for the latest and previous generation of consoles that include Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox. Interested players can wishlist the game now on Steam where they can also learn more information about the game.
