Alt254 Minimalistic Open-World Pixel Adventure Game

Rename Studio has released their minimalistic open-world adventure, Alt254, on Steam that turns the player into a single pixel. The 2D game is the studio’s first commercial release and is a part of Humble Choice for September.

Taking several key features and conventions of classic action-adventure games, Rename Studio breaks the genre down to its core, creating one of the smallest resolution games ever. At a massively tiny 21×26 pixels players are still given a sense of wonder where mighty monsters are expressed as a single pixel.

Everything with weapons and abilities in the game are condensed down to the bare minimum. Players will need to strike with precision, speed and wits to beat the pixel enemies and overcome hazards. Every locale within the game is different and has its own challenges. The very first puzzles challenges to the player to understand the world around them from the rules to the mechanics.

Exploration is a big part of this adventure. As players move about the world they will discover broken pieces of their memory that features glimpses of a lost past. Similar to that of a shattered mirror the pieces are scattered everywhere. Maybe by piecing them all together will the player be able to understand who they are and why they are here in a journey of self-discovery.

Alt254 is available on Steam for $9.99 USD with localizations in English, Spanish, German, French, Chinese and Russian with more to come. On Humble Choice during September Alt254 will be available and as a reminder Humble Choice subscribers can choose up to 9 games from a list of 12 to keep every month for $12.99 USD.
