The Kickstarter campaign has officially launched for The End of the Sun, a new atmospheric first-person exploration and adventure story. In the game players explore a Slavic fantasy world full of beliefs, legends, rites and everyday life.
Leading up to the Kickstarter launch, The End of the Sun Team, released a 20 minute gameplay video with full commentary. The team itself consists of three people, Jakub Machowski, Kinga Rąpała and Hubert Motyka, who have spent three years working on the game. During the development Machowski also released a small Developer Diary series in Polish with English subtitles that discusses various design and development elements.
Story is everything in The End of the Sun. In the role of Ashter, who happens to have the unique gift of time travel, players find themselves hot on the trail of a secret fugitive. Ashter also has unique knowledge of the Navia, the space in which human fates are shaped.
During the pursuit of the fugitive, Ashter stumbles across a mysterious village. Yet all is not what it seems as there is no one around. Well, they are not around in the form that is expected.
Slavic mythology and legends play a huge part in the game’s non-linear story. The events take place during 4 major Slavic festivals each in their own season and at very different points in time. One will quickly learn that in this immersive and engaging story that time travel has consequences and can shape or rather change the future.
The End of the Sun Kickstarter is currently underway and concludes on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at 8:55 AM PDT. A full release on Steam is expected in 2020 or 2021 with the game being available on Windows, Mac and Linux at an estimated retail price of $19.99 USD. Console releases are planned for the PS4 and Xbox One.

The End of the Sun Team is a small independent studio from Poland and was formed with the dream of creating atmospheric adventure story based games. Currently the team is comprised of Jakub Machowski, Kinga Rąpała and Hubert Motyka.
Machowski is the game’s Director, Game and Graphic Designer, and Screenwriter. His previous project was The Mims Beginning from the Squatting Penguins team. Rąpała is The End of the Sun’s Music and Sound Designer and Environmental Designer who is a singer, guitarist and music composer. Motyka is the team’s Programmer who has many years of experience creating what cannot be easily seen and makes sure that the game functions properly.
