A post-apocalyptic world with turn-based skirmishes are just the beginning of what awaits players in the Steam early access launch of Dreadlands. Indie developer Blackfox Studios along with indie developer and publisher Fatshark have been working on this living shared world since 2017 that also included two beta tests with lots of community feedback..
The premise of Dreadlands pits players with their various gangs against each other for control of Glow. Both life and death revolve around this valuable resource which happens to only exist in the post-apocalyptic Dreadlands.
Players pick their faction at the start with two of three being available at early access launch. The Scrappers utilize whatever they can salvage to fashion items they can use, mostly weapons. Tribe-kin, the other faction, is more in tune with nature and beasts. Skarbacks, the third faction will appear at a later time.
After a player selects their gang, a background story campaign follows. In this campaign players are introduced to that faction’s worldview, mentality, culture, and problems they face. Once the faction campaign is completed, the game’s main story campaign is unlocked which dives deeper into the lore, mystery, and intrigue of the Dreadlands world. There are many characters and entities who are looking for power gains or just trying to survive.
Today is the day we open the doors for everyone to play Dreadlands, and we have been looking forward to sharing the experience with all fellow gamers.

The game features a comic style within a detailed post-apocalyptic environment. Each battle features turn-based tactical combat with a free action point system where players can freely move, attack and use abilities however they want. A morale system is in place that can be used to break one’s enemies, but can also cause problems within a player’s rank as well.
Players can control the XP gains of the gang by completing in-match challenges or selecting a match MVP at the end. With the tactics card system, one can deploy unique powers to change the flow of the battle and even the outcome.
Out in the world, players will need to explore and discover what is exactly out there. Several unique settlements and many amazing sights spread across jungles, swamps, mountains, deserts, and contaminated zones are just waiting to be found. Along the way in this shared world, players will often encounter each other. It is up to them to decide if they will cooperate with each other or start an all out bloody PvP brawl.
Dreadlands is now available for Windows PC as an early access game on Steam set at the regular price of $19.99 USD. A special early adopter discount runs until March 17 that discounts the game down to $17.99 USD.
