Arc System Works has announced that their latest action platformer, Code Shifter, will feature an epic crossover of characters from iconic company titles.
In the game, players take on the role of Stella, a game developer at the Awesome Rainbow Corp. Her task is to squash the remaining bugs on the night before the company’s biggest game release. During her scramble to fix the bugs, mysterious errors start to appear in the program and time is running out.
To deal with the errors, Stella fires up a debug program called Code Shifter. This allows her digital avatar Sera to hunt down and eradicate bugs from within the game. On her journey to get the game ready she will encounter powerful bugs and anomalies. However, she won’t have to go at it alone as some unexpected allies each with their own special abilities will help out. As time marches forward will Stella be able to find the origin of the bugs and fix the game before the launch date?
Key features of Code Shifter includes a crossover of iconic Arc System Works characters from Guilty Gear, BlazBlue, River City series, and many more. All of the characters are remixed in an 8-bit pixel art format. There are 100 characters to utilize in order to overcome deadly obstacles and enemies.
Defeating the bosses of each stage rewards Sera with new costumes that gives her different powers when equipped. More characters can be unlocked by fighting against CPU controlled characters in the Ex Stages of the main story. The Colorful Fighters game mode is a brawler mini-game that allows up to 4 players to go at it in a free-for-all brawl.
In the platformer players will find a mix of pixel art and crisp 2D graphics that blend together. The soundtrack features 8-bit versions of popular character themes such as Sol Badguy’s Give Me a Break theme or Noel Vermillion’s Bullet Dance theme.
Code Shifter is scheduled to be released in Q1 of 2020 on Steam for PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. For the latest information on Code Shifter visit the game’s website at arcsystemworks.com/game/code-shifter/.
