Strange Horticulture Sprouts an Xbox Release

Iceberg Interactive and developer Bad Viking have now released their plant-based 2D investigative puzzle game, Strange Horticulture, on Xbox. The release comes just a year after the game’s Nintendo Switch release in July of last year.

Collect and catalog powerful and strange plants in Strange Horticulture. As the owner of a local plant shop in the quaint town of Undermere, players venture to the surrounding rugged mountains and hag-infested forests. Using horticulture skills, players will need to identify, collect, and catalogue powerful new plant specimens for their shop and customers.

Undermere features an interesting cast of resident characters who will frequent the plant shop. Their visits will reveal the town’s backstory with an occult mystery that reaches back through the centuries.

While exploring the dangerous surroundings, the use of context clues to determine where to go and where to avoid are critical for one’s own wellbeing. Decisions have immense power over the game’s narrative and how dark secrets are unveiled.

Exploration does come with risks such as losing one’s mind. Don’t forget to mind the cat, Hellebore, the cutest of feline companions when in town.

Last year, Strange Horticulture was selected as the Best Puzzle Game 2022 by PC Gamer. The independent developer’s game features a Metacritic score of 83, an Overwhelmingly Positive review score on Steam and has received an IGF nomination for its design.
