Kaesdo Games and indie developer Bulwark Studios has released the free Difficulty Update for their award winning sci-fi city builder, IXION.
Available now, the Difficulty Update gives total control to new Administrators as they search for humanity’s next home amongst the stars. The update adds three new difficulty options. These additional options run along with the default difficulty mode being the original intended IXION experience.
For players who want to enjoy the game’s narrative, Journey mode is recommended. This mode is also for those unfamiliar with the city-builder genre. Challenge mode is a struggle for survival and is best for Administrators who wish to test their skills.
A fourth fully-customizable difficulty option grants players control over a wide variety of game mechanics. These customizable parameters are tweakable mid-game if players desire to change up the gameplay.
Achievement hunters will find a new achievement for the hard Challenge difficulty setting. Administrators who reach the end of the game in this difficulty under its extreme circumstances will be awarded ‘I Give You The Stars’ new achievement. This achievement was the winning entry from a community naming competition and references a quote from DOLOS AEC’s enigmatic CEO, Vanir Dolos.
The update also includes a range of other fixes and improvements.
For those unfamiliar with IXION, the game combines elements of city building, survival, and exploration all wrapped up in a space opera. Players step into the role of the Administrator of the Tiqqun space station who works for DOLOS Aerospace Engineering Corporation. In the wake of Earth’s demise, players are tasked with keeping the station operational while finding humanity’s next home.

IXION along with the free Difficulty Update is available on Windows PC via Humble Bundle, Steam, and Epic Games Store for $34.99 / £29.99 / €34.99. The game is available as a Midweek Deal on Steam with a 30% discount until May 15, 2023.
