Thunderful and game development studio Digital Kingdom have launched their 3D dodge’em up arcade title, Swordship, on PC and consoles. The unique gameplay style flips the script with traditional arcade shooters by having players dodge enemy attacks instead.
Unlike traditional arcade shooters where one needs to shoot and destroy one’s enemies, this title tests a player’s skill at dodging attacks. To eliminate all threats players will want to use their enemies’ attacks against them. To accomplish this feat players will skillfully weave around their enemies and tricking them into wiping other out.
A number of ship variants are available. Each offers its own unique active power. Players can experiment with a variety of approaches to take down challenging enemies and overcome dangerous levels. Further experimentation is encouraged through playstyle choices. One may choose to be risky and bank stolen containers for massive score boosts or play it safe with passive upgrades and extra ships.
Swordship’s procedurally generated levels require the player to bet on their skills. Give it a few runs until it clicks and you will discover an exhilarating and challenging title unlike anything else out there. I can’t wait for everyone to try it on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and PC.
Sandro Dall’Aglio, Game Designer, Digital Kingdom
The game’s story is set in an unforgiving post-apocalyptic world. Everywhere the consequences of global warming have forced the vast majority of humanity to seek refuge in one of three gigantic underwater cities. Every day these megacities exchange millions of containers full of goods. Those left on the outside are left to fend for themselves and in some cases stealing some of those containers to survive.
Swordship is available on Windows PC via Steam for $19.99/£16.99/€19.99. The game is also available on the PS4 and PS5 via the PlayStation Store, Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo Store, and Xbox Series X|S via Microsoft for $19.99/£16.99/€19.99.
