Whitethorn Games released the Beans: Fair Trade Edition update for their satirical tycoon coffee shop game, Beans: The Coffee Shop Simulator. The free update is the publisher’s way of thanking longtime fans for playing the very first game the publisher and developer created.
Besides selling overpriced coffee, the game offers a tale of greed, betrayal, murder, and redemption. Players can follow Ruby and her efforts to become an exceptional business mogul. If successful she can win the inheritance of the Coffeebottom Estate. However, the trick is to survive the competition.
The game offers business management genre staples. Players will create a coffee shop and grow it into a profitable franchise. To spice up gameplay the developer has included a dash of satire to their brew as an added bonus players can watch their customers slowly lose their sanity. With over 200 food and drink recipes to create and combine, players will have lots of opportunities to train the interesting crew of baristas they hire in the fire art of being a coffee shop employee.
In the new Beans: Fair Trade Edition update players will notice a significant visual update. All animations, art, backgrounds, and images throughout the entire game have been replaced. New cutscenes offer a fresh take on the story and every level features a new chiptune.
Better level flow is now seen throughout the game. Certain events have seen adjustments to their timing to make them feel more natural. An improved AI and new boss battles are in the update. A new Christmas level is available. The update also includes a massive amount of bugfixes and quality of life improvements.

Beans: The Coffee Shop Simulator is available on PC for Windows and Mac through Humble Bundle, Steam, Itch.io for $4.99 USD. A Beans: The Coffee Shop Simulator – OST is available for $2.99 USD.
