Devolver Digital and developer Massive Monster announced that Cult of the Lamb is recruiting loyal worshipers for the flock ahead of the game’s 2022 launch. In a 2D crumbling world of ritual and ruin, this adorable and dark game puts a possessed lamb at the head of a cult.
In the role of a possessed lamb saved by an ominous stranger, players must build a following in their name to repay the debt. Using a powerful gameplay loop of base building and dungeon crawling, players start and grow their cult. Full of false prophets, one will need to venture out into the diverse and mysterious regions in order to build up a community of woodland worshippers. By spreading their word, players can challenge these false prophets and become the one true cult.
Each venture into the realm reveals increasing hordes of new and dangerous enemies. Rival cults with their own influential leaders will need to be defeated in order to absorb their power and assert your cult’s dominance. Upon returning to base and by fulfilling the needs of followers will players gain their devotion. Resources can build new structures. Performing dark rituals to appease the gods and giving sermons help reinforce the flock’s faith. The more devotion the more power players have that allows for deeper incursions into the world allowing for discovery of its dark secrets.
