Canadian independent game development studio Trailblazer Games wants to spell out the news about today’s release of Crossword City Chronicles. Combining word puzzles, adventure, crime and mystery players are taken on a 1950s inspired investigative journey.
The city is full of colorful characters set in the 1950s. Players play as an investigative reporter who is on the beat and always getting the big leads. To get the big headlines one needs to solve cases. In order to solve cases one needs to get double word bonuses and find those hidden clues, interview suspects and catch criminals during the crossword challenges.
Remember in this city the pen or rather words are mightier than the sword.
Gameplay is casual, straight forward and simple. During a crossword challenge players will draw letter tiles onto a rack. Next they will pick their letters and place them on the board to make a word that connects to the words already placed on the board to advance the plot. Bigger words and placing the words on bonus tiles up one’s score.
Regular updates are planned for the Crossword City Chronicles that will add new episodes. The game’s interface and story is available in English and French while the word games can be played in English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, Portuguese and Dutch. Players can change their language at any point during play.
Crossword City Chronicles is available now on Steam for $4.99 USD. A special launch promotion of 20% off runs until February 1, 2021. For more information about the game visit the game’s page on the developer’s website here or follow @CrosswordCity on Twitter.
