Indie developer 2 Ton Studios and indie publisher Big Sugar have launched their 2D cinematic platformer Unto The End on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The Nintendo Switch version launches next week and the game is also a day one Game Pass title for Xbox and PC.
Unlike any platformer seen before Unto The End takes players on a gripping story with challenging combat presented in cinematic glory. All of the adventure follows the simple premise of getting home to see the family, however for such a simple task, the game does not make it easy.
Saying the combat in the game is challenging is an understatement. Players will need to master the read-react combat system in what are nothing short of extremely intense sword fights. What this means is when a player sees an action, they will need to react accordingly or they will perish. This simple story of a father trying to get home is told through a tale of complex strings of basic actions.
Each encounter is handcrafted that features intelligent and often deadly dangerous opponents that operate with their own motivations. From the game’s start players have access to all of the father’s abilities. There is minimal handholding and players will find themselves thrown into the thick of things immediately. The path forward is full of treacherous terrain from underground ruins to harsh snow-covered mountain peaks littered with deadly traps and ambushes. Only those with a keen sense of observation and a mastery of the father’s skills will find success on their journey.
Unto The End is available on Steam for PC for $24.99 USD. The game is also available on Stadia, PS4 console and Xbox One console as a day one Game Pass title for both Xbox and PC. Nintendo Switch players can pick up on the game on December 17 when it launches on that platform.
Players can pick up the PC only Unto The End Special Edition DLC that includes a digital artbook and the official soundtrack by Johnny Knittle and Francesco Ameglio for $9.99 USD. A special 20% off launch promotion runs on Steam until December 16 that is offered for both the game and the DLC.
